Margaret A Smith was the daughter of Platt Smith & Margaret Johnson. She married Peter M Althouse in 1844 and together they had 5 children - Mary, Elvira, John, Peter & Smith. Margaret died in 1912, Peter in 1901; their sons Peter in 1874 & smithin 1862

After a lingering illness Peter Althouse died at his residence Tuesday morning.

The funeral of Mrs Elvira M Hayner, who died Monday morning at Halfmoon, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence. Interment will be in the Hudson Valley Cemetery, Mechanicville. Relatives will be bearers. Mrs Hayner died after an illness of several months. She was the wife of the late Silas Hayner and was seventy-five years old. Rev A J Schloop, a former pastor of the Newtonville Methodist Church and now at Delanson, will conduct the funeral services. The survivors are a brother, John P Althouse of Alplaus; two sons, Arthur P Hayner of Waterford and WillardS Hayner of Halfmoon; two daughters, Mrs Burton L Smith and Mrs Willard S Lasher, both of Halfmoon and sever grandchildren.

Silas Hayner Dies
Silas Hayner died at his home in the town of Halfmoon last Thursday afternoon. Mr Hayner was born in Philadelphia about seventy years ago but had resided in the town of Halfmoon practically all his life. Beside his wife, he is survived by two sons, Arthur and Willard, and two daughters, Mrs Willard Lahser and Mrs Burton Smith, all residents of Halfmoon; one sister, Mrs William VanNess. The funeral was held Monday morning from his late residence. Rev H A Schloop, pastor of the Newton Church, officiated. Mr Hayer was a staunch Republican in politics, having served the town of Halfmoon as Supervisor during the rear of 1890 and was re-elected again in 1915 and he served in that capacity until about two months ago when he resigned on account of ill health. Mr Hayner was one of the organizer of the Clifton Park and Halfmoon Mutual Fire Insurance Company. At the time of its organization, 1878, he was elected director and served as such until elected president. He has been president of the company for the pat twenty years. In July, 1917, Mr Hayner was appointed on the Exemption board of this district and acted in this capacity until after the signing of the armistices. He was well known not only in this city but throughout the county as well and he was always held in the highest of esteem. Silas was a Town Supervisor. He was a President - Halfmoon Mutual Fire Insurance Co.
