Franklin B Nessle

If we have a look at this stone, the first 9 names are the names of the children of William Elbert Nessle & Maria Smith.  The last 2 are their grandchild & daughter-in-law - specifically of Franklin B Nessle.

Frank married Amelia Hill, the daughter of Stephen Hill & Mary Love. Together, they had 6 children - Julia, William, Thomas, Satie, Earl & Robert.  Julia, Satie & Earl all died in infancy.

Franklin Nessle, aged 73, died Thursday morning, March 6, after months of lingering illness at the home of his brother, Irvin Nessle at Coons Crossing where the funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev Omar Headley, pastor of the Methodist Church, Clifton Park, officiated. Burial was in Clifton Park Cemetery. Relatives acted as bearers. The survivors are three sons, William E of Bemis Heights, Elmon T of Kingston and Robert Nessle of Hawthorne, NJ; two grandchildren, Everetta and Madge Nessle; three brothers, Henry of Toledo, O., and Irvin and John E of Coons Crossing; two sisters, Rachel Nessle of Toledo, O and Mrs R E Hill of Halfmoon.

Mrs Amelia Nessle
Jonesville, Nov 11 - Mrs Amelia Nessle, wife of Frank B Nessle, died at the home in Jonesville yesterday after a brief illness. Besides her husband, Mrs Nessle is survived by three sons, William Nessle of Jonesville; Elmon Nessle of Kingston; Robert Nessle of Patterson, NJ; two grandchildren, Everett Nessle and Madge Amelia Nessle; two sisters, Mrs J J Hayes of Troy and Mrs E R Esmond of Saratoga Springs; and one brother, Richard E Hill of Waterford. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the late residence and at the Methodist Episcopal Church of Jonesville at 130 o'clock. Burial will be in Clifton Park Cemetery.

Nessle - Brereton

Henry was a painter not a farmer like his father and he left Halfmoon, NY to settle in Toledo, OH. Henry married an English girl named Annie Rose Brereton, the daughter of James Brereton & Elizabeth Rose and they had 2 children - Fannie & Brereton.

Fannie became a teacher and finished her career at Longfellow Junior High School in 1940 according to this yearbook found on Ancestry

Brereton was an interior decorator and married a girl named Annie Childs, the daughter of Robert F Childs & Martha Carter. 

They had one son, James Philip Nessle, who became a renowned naturalist according to his obit posted on Find A Grave

Isaac J Smith born in 1802 at Halfmoon, NY was the son of Jacob Smith & Hannah Rogers.

He was married twice - first to Rachel Morris, the daughter of Theodore Morris & Martha Thompson.  Isaac & Rachel had 5 children - Maria, Gilbert, Hannah, Theodore, and a baby girl.

He then married a girl named Mary and fathered 3 more children - Racheal, John & Margaret. 

These relationships were proven via his father's will, his own will and a newspaper article notifying family members of a Supreme Court action.

From the first marriage, Maria Smith married William Elbert Nessle, the son of James I Nessle & Phebe Seaman.

Clifton Park - The funeral of Mrs William Nessle was held Monday from her late residence of Newtown. Interment at this place.

Together they had 9 children - James, Elbert, Henry, Franklin, Rachel, Hannah, Ulysses, John & Irvin. Of them, Rachel & John never married.

Round Lake - Miss Rachel M Nessle died suddenly Friday at her home at Coons Crossing. She was born in Halfmoon, Oct 22, 1856, the daughter of William E Nessle and Maria Smith. She is survived by a sister, Miss Amanda Nessle, and a brother, Irving Nessle, both of Coons Crossing, three nephews, Thomas Nessle, Kingston; William Nessle, Ballston Lake; Robert Nessle, NJ. The funeral will be held at the residence tomorrow at 130 pm. The Rev George M Folsom, pastor of the Clifton Park Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Clifton Park Cemetery. Friends may call this evening.

John Edwin Nessle died yesterday after a long illness at his home, Coons Crossing, RD 2, Mechanicville. He was born in the Town of Halfmoon Feb 3, 1863, son of William and Maria Nessle. He retired from the D&H Railroad about six years ago after 46 years service. He was an attendant at the Newton Methodist Church. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs Maud Hill and Miss Rachael Nessle, and a brother, Ervin Nessle, four nephews and several cousins. The funeral will be held from the residence Friday at 2 pm. Rev George M Folsom, pastor of the Newtown and Clifton Park Methodist Churches will officiate. Interment will be at Clifton Park Cemetery.

Funeral of Byron Smith
Waterloo, Nov 5 - Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Genung's undertaking rooms for Byron Smith, 70, of Dublin who was fatally injured Saturday night and died in Memorial Hospital several hours later.  Mr Smith was struck by an automobile driven by Howard F Murray, 20, of RD 3, Stanley while he was walking westerly on the Geneva Waterloo road.  Examination by the coroner revealed a fractured skull and a compound fracture of the right leg.  He was a house painter by occupation, was born in Junius and lived there nearly his entire life. Services were conducted by Rev John B Arthur, rector of the Episcopal Church of this village, with burial in the Southwick Cemetery in Junius. Coroner Carroll B Bacon stated today that he did not expect an inquest unless new developments materially changed the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Mary F Smith, wife of Byron Smith, died shortly after midnight at the family home in Seneca Street. Deceased was a native of Junius; daughter of the late William and Helen Barrett. She had resided here the past two years and was 47 years of age. The cause of death was cancer. Surviving are her husband and one brother and two sisters. The funeral will be held Friday at 11 o'clock am from the house, the Rev H T Scholl of East Palmyra, officiating. Interment in Southwick Cemetery.

Charles Smith of Junius Passes; Rites Tomorrow
Waterloo, July 11 - Charles Smith, 80, died yesterday at his home in Junius.  A retired farmer, he was a life resident of Junius. Surviving are his wife, Mrs Libbie Wright Smith; a daughter, Mrs George Stevens, of East Rochester; three grandchildren, Ila S Davies, Rochester, Donald Stevens, Fairport, and William Stevens, of East Rochester, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral will be conducted at 2 pm tomorrow in the home by Rev C B Blakeslee, Episcopal rector, with burial in South Lyons Cemetery.

Mrs Libbie Smith, 93, a town of Junius resident most of her life, died yesterday (Nov 25, 1962) in the home of a daughter, Mrs Sadie Stevens of 206 S Lincoln road, East Rochester. Mrs Smith, widow of Charles Smith, had resided in East Rochester for seven years. She was born in the Town of Galen. Her father, the late Charles Wright, was the first man to enlist at Auburn in the Union Army in the Civil War. Besides the daughter, Mrs Smith leaves a sister, Mrs Anna May Ehrhardt of Phelps; and three grandchildren. A last rite will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, in South Lyons Cemetery, with Rev W C Paul officiating. Friends may contribute to the memorial fund of the East Rochester First Presbyterian Church.

 
Their daughter Sadie May married George Washington Stevens Jr, the son of George Stevens & Alice Nickoloy and they had 3 children - Ila, Donald, & Wayne.

Funeral Services Held For George Stevens
Funeral services were held in East Rochester for George W. Stevens of Lincoln Rd, East Rochester, who passed away on June 24, 1951. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife, Sadie; one daughter, Mrs. Ila Davies of Brighton; two sons, Donald of Fairport, Wayne of East Rochester; seven grandchildren, and one sister, Miss Imogene Stevens of East Rochester.

Mrs E M Hamilton Rites Arranged
Final services for Mrs Ella M Hamilton, 71. of 230 E Commercial, East Rochester, who died Saturday night, will be held tomorrow at 2 pm at 605 S Main in that village, with interment in Southwick Cemetery, Junius. Mrs Hamilton's death was not discovered until last night, when neighbors, include Rep Joseph J O'Brien, heard a radio and notice a light in the Hamilton home, but did not see Mrs Hamilton. Dr David H Atwater, coronor, who issued a certificate of death from natural causes, said a heart attack brought on death. Mrs Hamilton is survived by two brothers, Homer and Charles Smith of Junius and niece, Mrs George Stevens of East Rochester.

Frank G Hamilton, who had an extensive acquaintance here and in Junius, died at his home in East Rochester, on Friday last, from ulcers of the stomach, aged 39 years. He had been identified with the growth of Despatch and was one of the most respect citizens and his death was a blow to the social and business interests of that community. He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church of Rochester and was a 32d degree Mason. Deceased left a wife, who is a sister of Charles Smith of West Junius, and a mother who resides at Geneva. The funeral was held Monday. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Rochester.
