John P Althouse & Emma Woodward


A while back I wrote about Jay Spencer Althouse and his clan, today's post is about his parents & sister Ida Mae.

His parents were John P Althouse & Emma R Woodward - she was the daughter of Martin Woodward & Lydia Peck; he was the son of Peter M Althouse & Margaret A Smith

John Althouse, 90, Dies After Brief Illness
Clifton Park - John Althouse, 90, died at his home in Alplaus, Christmas Eve.  When he celebrated his birthday Dec 6, he was enjoying good health, but later suffered a stroke. He was ill only a few days. Mr Althouse was born and lived in this town until several years ago when he retired from farming. He was a member of Clifton Park Center Baptist Church. The private funeral was held Sunday afternoon. The Rev Bailey Hathaway officiated. Burial was in the local cemetery.

Mrs Emma Woodward Althouse of Alplaus died at her home Sunday morning after an illness of about four weeks. The funeral service, which will be private, will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev George H Simons of Clifton Park will officiate, assisted by Rev Thomas M Bishop Alplaus. Mrs Althouse was born in Clifton Park 69 years ago. She had lived there until about years ago when she moved to Alplaus. She was a member of the Peck Baptist Church of Clifton Park Center and was a great-granddaughter of Elder Peck, the founder of the church. Mrs Althouse leaves her husband, one son, J Spencer Althouse of Clifton Park, and two grandchildren. Burial will be in the Baptist Church Cemetery, Clifton Park Center.

Ida Althouse Dead at 75
Ballston Spa - Miss Ida Mae Althouse died Friday night at the Durham Nursing Home, Saratoga Lake, after several months illness.  She was born in the Town of Clifton Park Mar 12, 1885.  She had resided many years at Alplaus and was a member of the Clifton park Center Baptist Church.  Survivors are a nieces, Mrs Mildred Kenyon of Corinth, and a nephew, Irving Althouse, Clifton Park.  A private funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday at the Wheeler Funeral Home, Ballston Spa, the Rev David Fountain of Clifton Park Center Baptist Church to officiate. Burial will be in the Clifton Park Center Cemetery.
