Swartwout Family

The Swartwout family intertwinds many a Vincent line. In this case, William Peter Swartwout was the great grandson of John Swartwout & Jacomynite, 'Jemima', Rosekrans - Jemima being the daughter of Capt Benjamin Jacobus Rosekrans & Phebe Vincent.

William Peter Swartwout was the son of Stephen Swartwout & Helen 'Nellie' Eckler born in Arlington, Michigan.

In 1898, he married a girl by the name of Lottie May Allen, a Michigan girl who was the daughter of Ezra I Allen & Lydia E Myers.

Together they had 10 - 10 children!  Allen, Carl, Helen, Violet, Lawrence, Selden, Wendell, Lyle, Claude & Leta.

In 1910, William's clan was on a farm in the little town of Ensign, North Dakota - the county of Renville has less than 3000 today and was once dissolved because it was too small, then re-instated in 1910.

Perhaps it was the uncertainty of the community, or the simple desire for something different, but by 1920 the family had relocated to St Paul, Minnesota where their last 2 children were born; however, the family would relocate again. By 1930 the family was in Milwaukee, WI - all the while, William worked as a general laborer.

William and Lottie settled in Richfield where he died in 1931 & she died in 1956.
