Minerva Roberts & Family

Minerva Roberts, Minnie, was also a daughter of James Harvey Roberts & Martha Ann Hegeman and she married Edward Thompson, the son of Benjamin Thompson & Sarah Simmons.  Attached are their obits and their 2 unmarried children

Edward Thompson died about 1 o'clock Saturday morning at his home in Riceville, aged 41 years.  He is survived by his wife, five children, one brother, William, and three sisters, Mrs Hattie Shaul, Mrs George Haines and Mrs Nelson Wood, all of Mayfield.  Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at Mayfield, conducted by the Rev L D Van Arman on Monday at 2 o'clock.  Interment in Mayfield Cemetery.

Mrs Minerva Thompson, 68, highly regarded resident of Mayfield, died at 9:30 am yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs Herbert Kneeskern in the Town of Ephratha, where she [had] been staying for the past three weeks.  Mrs Thompson was a devout member of the Mayfield Methodist church for many years and also a member of the Mayfield Grange.  Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Herbert Kneeskern of the Town of Ephratah, Mrs Albert Beard of Ephratha, and Miss Beatrice Thompson of the Town of Mayfield; one [son] Rev John Thompson of Hudson falls; one sister, Mrs Antoinette Dixon of Johnstown, and seven grand-children.  Remains were removed to the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, where a prayer service will be held at 1:45 pm tomorrow.  Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm in the Methodist Church in Mayfield.  Rev W H Kroeger will officiated.  Interment will be in the Mayfield Cemetery.

Miss Beatrice S Thompson, 75, of Mayfield, died at 9:40 last night at the Canajoharie Nursing Home where she had been a patient for several months.  Born in Mayfield, March 2, 1895, Miss Thompson lived there until entering the nursing home.  She was the daughter of Edward and Minerva Roberts Thompson.  Miss Thompson was a graduate of Gloversville High School and Oneonta State Teachers College.  She taught in local schools, and retired from the Columbia School in 1955 after 35 years’ service there.  Miss Thompson belonged to the Mayfield United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Women's Society for Christian Service and the Royal Eight Sunday School Class there.  She was active in Choir direction and youth groups at the church also.  Miss Thompson was a member of the Gloversville Teachers Alumni Association.  She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was buried on 12 Dec 1970 at Union Rural Cemetery in Mayfield, Fulton Co, New York.

James Kenneth Thompson died yesterday morning at 4:15 o'clock at his home in Riceville, after ten days' illness of pneumonia.  He was born September 17, 1897, in Riceville, and had lived all his life in that village where he made many friends.  He was a member of the Mayfield Methodist church and of the Young Men's Uplift Class of the Sunday School.  He is survived by his mother, Mrs Minerva Thompson of Riceville; one brother, Rev John E Thompson of Schenectady; three sisters, Mrs Herbert Kneeskern of Ephratah; Mrs Jennie Groves and Miss Beatrice Thompson of Mayfield.  The funeral will be held at the home in Riceville, Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock.  Rev J C Booth, pastor of the ME Church of Mayfield will officiate and interment will be in the Mayfield Cemetery.  Please omit flowers.
