Antoinette Roberts





Antoinette Roberts was the daughter of James Harvey Roberts & Martha Ann Hegeman.  

 







Nettie had 3 children with William R Dixon, son of glove maker Baltus W Dixon & Helen Louisa Jackson - James died at 11, Nathan at 22 and they are all buried at the Union Rural Cemetery in Mayfield (photos courtesy of Diane Henderson, Find A Grave) 
 
 











Walter went on to marry Lena Taylor and they are buried in the Ferndale Cemetery at Johnstown, NY

Woman, Aged 84, Taken By Death
Mrs Antoinette Dixon Had Been in Failing Health for Some Time
Mrs Antoinette Roberts Dixon, 84, widow of William R Dixon, passed away this morning about 11 at her home, 14 Spring Street.  She had been in failing health for some time with a complication of diseases, the result of her advanced age.  Mrs Dixon was born in Mayfield, September 13, 1855, daughter of James Harvey Roberts and Ann Hageman.  She had been a resident of Johnstown about thirty years.  She was a member of the Methodist Church in this city and a charter member of Antoinette Rebekah Lodge of Mayfield, which was named for her.  The survivors are one son, Walter Dixon, of Johnstown; one granddaughter, two great granddaughters, also several nieces and nephews.  Announcement of the funeral arrangements will be made later.

After a lingering illness of consumption, William R Dixon, a well known citizen, died at 7 am today at his residence, No 5 Washington Street, aged 37 years.  The deceased was born in Mayfield, NY in 1857.  He moved to Johnstown thirteen years ago and has since followed the occupation of drayman.  He was a hard working industrious man and during his residence here has gained the respect and high regard of a host of friends who will learn with deep regret of his untimely demise.  He leaves a widow and two sons, Walter and Nathan.  A prayer will be said at his late residences at 9 am, Saturday, and the remains will be taken to Mayfield for interment.  The funeral service will be held at the Methodist Church in Mayfield, the Rev William H Washburne, assisted by Rev Mr Cook, officiating.
