Mechanicville,
Sept 18 (Special) - J Spencer Althouse who resides about a mile west of Lapes
Corners on the Mechanicville-Schenectady state road, dropped dead this morning
in a field near his home. Mr Althouse arouse as usual this morning, and ate a
hearty breakfast, after which he complained to his wife he felt an attack of
indigestion, to which he had been subject. Mrs Althouse urged him to allow her
to send for a physician but he refused saying he would feel better shortly and
asking her to apply home remedies, which she did. About 8:30 o'clock he told
his wife he felt much better and left the house to take the cows to pasture.

in the field with the cows. About 9 o'clock she missed him and being alarmed over
his attack in the house at once went to the field where she found him dead.
Coroner Johnson from this city was notified and went to the scene. Upon
investigation he pronounced death due to acute indigestion and valvular heart
trouble. Mr Althouse was born in the home where he and his family resides 47
years ago and is survived by his wife, one sone and one small daughter.
