Random Obits


 Marian Virginia Doty was the daughter of William Alexander Doty & Grace Cornelia Flagler.  Despite the 21 year age gap, she met and married Calvin Arthur Field, the son of Samuel Field & Elizabeth Mosher.  Together they had 2 children - Marion & Richard.  They are buried at the Clifton Park Baptist Cemetery.

Calvin Field, Of Elnora, Dies at 79

Clifton Park - Calvin Field, 79, Barney Road, Elnora, died Saturday at the Benedict Memorial Hospital, Ballston Spa, after a short illness. Mr Field was born in Little Compton, RI and had lived in Elnora over 40 years where he was a self-employed contractor. Survivors include his widow, Mrs Marion Doty Field; a daughter, Mrs Harry Gill of Stony Creek, NY; a son, Richard Field of Cohoes, NY; two sisters, Elvira Hamlet of Pennsylvania and Mrs John Pierce of Little Compton. Eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be held at the Townley-Wheeler Funeral Home, Midline Road, Ballston Lake at 2pm tomorrow.  Rev Jame I Meek, pastor of the Clifton Park Center Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Clifton Park Center Cemetery. The funeral home will open after 7 tonight.

Ethel May Flagler was the daughter of Oscar V Flagler & Anna F Robertson.  She married Erven Leslie Jones, the son of Madawg Jones & Edith Lesson.  Together they had 3 children, Edith, Lois & Janet.  They are buried at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Albany, NY

MECHANICVILLE -- Erven L. Jones, 64, of Plant Road, a retired machinist, died Monday [2 December 1974] in Albany Medical Center following a long illness. Mr. Jones was born in Schaghticoke, a son of the late Evan and Edith Jones. He lived in the Halfmoon area for the past 29 years. He retired in 1972 after 30 years as a machinist at the General Electric gas turbine building in Schenectady. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at GE and was a communicant of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Schaghticoke. Survivors beside his wife, Ethel Flagler Jones, are three daughters, Mrs. Richard Goble and Miss Janet A. Jones, both of Schenectady, and Mrs. Richard Cram of Ballston Spa; two sisters, Mrs. Reed Carknard of Valley Falls and Mrs. George Grant of Ft. Edward; four brothers, Robert Jones and Frederick Jones, both of Schaghticoke, Richard Gordon Jones of Troy, Henry N. Jones of Schenectady; three grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a. m. from the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, Route 9, Clifton Park, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. George Kaulfuss, rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Mechanicville. Interment will be in Memory Garden.
