Gladys Hanneman (nee Beach)


Gladys Wells Beach was born in 1916 at St Paul, MN to Marion Wilbur Beach & Lillian May Wells. She married R George Hanneman, the son of Rudolph Carl Hanneman & Caroline Johanne Bach and a well known gentleman in the Wolcott area who owned a men's wear shop.  It's the Beach line via the Peck family that traces back to Joseph Peck & Phebe Vincent.

Unfortunately, Gladys died at the age of 33 leaving behind her husband and a 9 year old child.

Mrs Hanneman, Wolcott, Dies - Stroke Fatal to Well Known Woman
Mrs Gladys Wells Beach Hanneman, 33, wife of R George Hanneman, well known Wolcott business man, died in the Clifton Springs Sanatorium Tuesday. She had been confined in the sanatorium since she suffered a stroke at her home in Wolcott Nov 14. She and Mr Hanneman, who is owner of the Men's Wear Shop in Wolcott, were married in Fulton, Sept 27, 1938. She was a member of the Wolcott Presbyterian Church and a leader in Brownie Troop No 29. Mrs Hanneman was born in St Paul, Minn, Feb 23, 1916, the daughter of the late Marion Beach and Mrs Beach. Besides her husband and mother, the latter now residing in Wolcott, she is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou, 9; an uncle, Wilbur Wells of Wolcott; two aunts, Laura Wells and May Wells, both of Wolcott, and a great aunt, Mrs Maud Keeley of Syracuse. The funeral will be held from the Robertson Funeral Home at 2 pm Friday with Rev George Wolfe Officiating. Burial will be in Glenside Cemetery

SFC Leroy Clyde Geyer


Sgt First Class Leroy Clyde Geyer, born in Idaho to Frederick G Geyer & Dorothy G Cramer is a descendant of Joseph Peck & Phebe Vincent.

Leroy was a military man who died doing what he loved.

MIchael D Smith


Michael D Smith was the son of DeWitt Smith & Lillian M Madsen – via the Smiths back to the Rogers, Michael is a descendant of Hezekiah Rogers Jr & Hannah Vincent.

SMITH, Michael D - of 225 Biddle, Passed away Thursday, May 18, 1978 at the Bixby Hospital, Adrian, aged 31 years. Surviving are his wife Linda; Parents Mr and Mrs Dewitt Smith of Jackson; two brothers Mark D. and James D both of Jackson; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a member of the Side Kicks Motorcycle Club and the Brown Belt Karate Shoren Ruy. Mr. Smith is at the Chas. J. Burden and Son Funeral Home, 1806 E. Michigan Ave., where services will be held Monday 3:00 p.m. Interment Woodland Cemetery. The Reverend Victor Jordan officiating.

Charles C Kupras


Charles C Kupras is another fella who married into our line via a Gibbings girl.

Charles married Louise Maire Gibbins, daughter of Leslie Gibbings & Marie Cote, sister to Elaine in the last post.

Charles was the son of Anthony & Mary Kupras from New Jersey which means records are sketchy –ugg – however, thanks to a posting by Mark Wing on Ancestry, I have his obit.

Charles C Kupras, 39, of 27 Russell St died at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home this morning after a short illness. He was the owner of the Charles Kupras Trucking concern. Besides his wife, Louise (Gibbings) Kupras, formerly from Springfield, he leaves his parents, Mr and Mrs Anthony Kupras of this town; two sons, Charles C Jr, and Raymond John; one brother, Joseph of this town and one sister, Miss Jennie Kupras of Boston. Mr Kupras was a veteran of World War II.  The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 8:15 from the Czelusniak Funeral Home, followed by a solemn requiem high mass in Holy Rosary Church at 9. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are from 2 tomorrow afternoon until the time of funeral.

Joseph Duncan & Hannah Schouten

Hannah Maria Schouten, the daughter of James Schouten & Mary Ann Nessle, was born in 1852 at Halfmoon, NY.

In 1870 at Arcola, IL, she married Joseph Porter Duncan, the son of Joseph B Duncan & Susanna Norwood and they had a total of 11 children but only 8 lived - Anna N, J Henry, Edward P, Susan M, Hattie M, Eugene N, Jennie C & J Percy.

Hannah died in 1940 but Joseph died back in 1911. They are buried at the Oakland Cemetery in Denison

ANSWERS LAST CALL OF BUGLE - Joseph P Duncan, a Union Veteran, Passes Away Saturday last at Denison Hospital - Operation For Appendicitis - Other Complications Arise With Which the Physicians Are Unable to Contend
On Saturday, August 19, 1911, occurred the death of Joseph P Duncan at the Denison Hospital, where he had undergone an operation for appendicitis. The operation proved successful, but the surgeons found other complications with which they were unable to contend. In the early part of August, Mr Duncan began ailing and along about the tenth he was taken more seriously and after consulting his physicians an operation was deemed necessary. In the death of Mr Duncan, another long-time resident of Crawford County is taken. He came to Crawford County many years ago and settled in Paradise Township, and engaged inf arming and in buying and selling cattle. For years he drove all over this county buying stock and he was one of the best known men of his community. The Duncan home in paradise was one of the best in that township. No one ever asked for assistance in time of need but they received it, and the friends made at that time have been lasting. Deceased was born October 3, 1846, in Maryville, Tenn, where his parents, Joseph Duncan and Susan Norwood-Duncan, had lived since childhood. The family moved to Crawford County, Illinois in 1852. The father departed this lfie in May 1863. When the Civil War broke out, three of his brothers responded to the call. Later, young Joseph, at the age of eighteen, by his mother's consent, enlisted. After the war, his mother, two sisters and one brother and himself moved to Arcola, Ill. He was married to Hannah M Schouten October 5, 1875. Eleven children were born of this union, three having died in infancy. The remaining ones, Annie N Vollertsen, Henry, Edward P, Susan M Scott, Hattie M Hoffman, Eugene N, Jennie C Eggers and J Percy, with eleven grandchildren, all residents of Iowa except Jennie of Nebraska, with three brothers and sisters and his second wife, live to mourn his demise. One brother, Jackson, died May 18th of this year. January 28, 1909, he was married to Mrs Mary E Carter, who is left to mourn his loss. The funeral was held Tuesday forenoon from the Presbyterian Church, and interment made in Oakland Cemetery, members of John A Logan Post G A R of which deceased was a member, attending in a body.

Hugh Chesney


Hugh Ross Chesney, the son of James A Chesney & Lula Haggit, was born in Tuckersmith, Ontario and his family relocated to the United States after 1921. 

In 1934, Hugh married Helen Beatrice Trombley – the daughter of James David Tombley & Cleo Manning and a descendant of Hezekiah Rogers Jr & Hannah Vincent.

Services for Hugh R Chesney, 28294 West Jefferson, Riverview, were Saturday at the Ralph W Ridge Funeral Home, Trenton, followed by interment at Ferndale Cemetery, Riverview. Survivors include his wife, Helen; son, Terry; Parents, Mr and Mrs James Chesney; and brothers, John and Don. Mr Chesney died Dec 16 at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital, Trenton. He was born Aug 28, 1913 in Canada. He was a safety director at Pennwalt Corporation and was a member of the Pennsalt Club.
