Hanson Coulter & Laura Vincent

Another one of John S O Vincent & Mercy Mooring's children was Laura Mae Vincent - she was born in 1907 at Hansford, Nova Scotia and in 1928 she married Hanson Malcolm Coulter.  They had 5 children - Elizabeth, John, Charles, Lauretta & Evelyn.

COULTER, Laura Mae - 88, Tatamagouche, died May 9, 1996, in Willow Lodge Home for Special Care, Tatamagouche. Born in Hartford, Cumberland Co., she was a daughter of the late John Osborne and Mercy (Mooring) Vincent. She was a rural mail route driver until her retirement. She was a member of Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche, Order of the Eastern Star, Atlantic Chapter 65, Tatamagouche, and was an avid musician and one of the founding members of the North Shore Old-Time Fiddlers Orchestra. Surviving are son, John, Tatamagouche; daughters, Lauretta (Mrs. Ernest Pettas), Bowden, Alta.; Elizabeth (Mrs. Kenneth Shearer), Carvel, Alta.; sisters, Myrtle Hatcher, Truro; Lena Porteous, Tatamagouche; Audrey Vincent, Calgary, Alta.; Gladys (Mrs. William Sleigh), Halifax; brothers, Leaman, Conns Mills; Aubrey, Tatamagouche; Logan, Sardis, B.C.; Herrick, Comox, B.C.; 23 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Hanson; son, Charles; daughter, Evelyn Blenkhorn; sisters, Lucille, Vera, Ella; brother, Norman; half-brothers, Perle, Clarence, Earl. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, Order of Eastern Star service 7:30 p.m. tonight, both in Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday in Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche, Rev. Beth Johnston officiating. Burial in Lockerby Memorial Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations to Willow Lodge Home for Special Care or any charity.

HANSON M. COULTER, 69, of Tatamagouche died Thursday in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital.  Born in Wallace Station, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Watson and Alice (Angeline) Coulter.  Besides his wife the former Laura Vincent, he is survived by a son John, Tatamagouche, three daughters Lauretta (Mrs. Ernest Rettis) Olds, Alta., Evelyn (Mrs. Cecil Blenkhorn) Tatamagouche, Elizabeth (Mrs. Kenneth Shearer) Whitecourt, Alta., a sister Jennie (Mrs. Harold Royal) Truro, 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a son, two brothers and a sister.  The body is at Coulter's Funeral Home here.  Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Sharon United Church Rev. Morley Bentley officiating. Burial will be in Lockerbie Cemetery Tatamagouche.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital.


PETTIS, Lauretta Jean - 65, Innisfail, passed away April 8, 2001, in Innisfail Health Centre. Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Hanson and Laura (Vincent) Coulter. Her family relocated to Tatamagouche in 1938. She is survived by her husband, Ernie, Innisfail; sons, Rick (Donna), Red Deer, Alta.; Russ (Sandy), Vancouver, B.C.; Randy (Raylene), St. Albert, Alta.; Derrick (Albertine), Bowden, Alta.; Dave (Sarah), Didsbury, Alta.; Darren (Louise), Airdrie, Alta.; John (Pamela), Bowden, Alta.; Danny (Margarita), New Jersey, N.Y.; Michael (Tanya), Bowden, Alta.; daughters, Judy (Jake), Bowden, Alta.; Laura (George), Bowden, Alta.; Janice (Charlie), Bowden, Alta. She is also survived by her brother, John (Marj) Coulter, Bedford; sister, Elizabeth (Ken) Shearer, Carvelle, Alta.; 27 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Wallie Williams; grandson, Talon; brother, Charles Coulter; sister, Evelyn Blenkhorn. A memorial service was in Metcalf Funeral Chapel, Innisfall, Alta., April 11, Rev. Ted Norris officiated. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society.

Evelyn married Cecil Herbert Blenkhorn and had 6 children.

BLENKHORN, H. Cecil - 71, The Falls, passed away April 26, 2004, in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born on Lake Road, Tatamagouche, he was a son of the late Wallace and Levita (Fisher) Blenkhorn. Surviving are his children, Genesta Schmidt and husband Daryl, The Falls; Brenda Halverson and husband George, Denmark, N.S.; Myrna MacKay and husband Ron, Sylvan Lake, Alta.; Phillip, The Falls; Donna Hunt and husband George, Debert; Steven and wife Kim, Onslow Mountain; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, David (Lillian), Oxford; Walter (Irene), Debert; Edward (Violet), Tatamagouche; sisters, Roxella McGill (Lloyd), Alberta; Mary Holloway, Alder Point, Cape Breton; Ruth Arsenault (Walt), Alberta; Stella Kaulback (Carl), Bass River. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Evelyn Coulter and brother, Kenny. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Morley Bentley officiating, both in Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Burial will be in The Falls Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice.
