Hart - Overholt


Wayland Phillip Hart, the son of Carrol & Edith Hart from the previous post, married Kathryn Ida Overholt, the daughter of Lawrence Overholt & Nettie May Noel and they had 2 children - Phillip & Carroll. After Kathryn died, Wayland married widow Donia C Julian (nee Elliott).

Kathryn Ida Hart, 69, Hudson, died suddenly Jan 28 at Thorn Hospital. Born Nov 13, 1905 at Bliss, Mi, daughter of Lawrence and Nettie May Noel Overholt. Lived early life in Bliss area; graduated from Pellston High School, class of 1925, also from Michigan State University. Married Aug 16, 1933 to Wayland P Hart at Petoskey, Mi. they spent their life on their farm near Clayton until 1974 when they moved to Hudson. Leaves husband; 2 sons, Phillip L Hart of Clayton and Carroll L Hart of Ann Arbor; 2 brothers, Leon Overholt of Traverse City and Harold Overholt of Newberry; 3 sisters, Miss Treva Overholt of Asheville, NC, Mrs Jas (Leona) Campbell of Coral Gables, Fla, and Mrs Lyle (Marjorie) Cassidy of Levering, Mi; also by 6 grandchildren. Predeceased by 1 brother, Ralph Overholt. Burial in Maple Grove.

HUDSON - Wayland P Hart, 76, of Hudson, current chairman of the Lenawee County Road Commission, died June 4, 1986, at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility after an illness of several weeks. Mr Hart, of 117 Parker Ct, Hudson, was born June 9, 1909 in Hudson Township to Carroll and Edith (Spring) Hart. He was a lifelong resident of the Clayton-Hudson area and a 1926 graduate of Hudson High School. He also attended Michigan State University where he was associated with the Alpha Gamma Rho social fraternity. On Aug 16, 1933, he married Kathryn I Overholt in Petoskey. She preceded him in death on Jan 28, 1975. He later married Donia Elliott Julian, Nov 21, 1975, in Ann Arbor, and she survives. Mr Hart was a longtime Hudson Township farmer. In addition to his chairmanship on the Lenawee County Road Commission, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hudson where he had served on many church boards. He was a member of the Hudson Center, Pomona State and National Granges, the Lenawee County and Rice Lake Farm Bureaus, the Evening Star Masonic Lodge at Medina and the Hudson Lions Club. He was also a member of the former Clayton Masonic Lodge, the former Clayton OES Chapter, was a former member of the Lenawee County Health Board, former vice chairman of the State Mental Health Board, a former member of the Hudson Barbershoppers and the Lenawee County Holstein Association, and a past president of the State Holstein Association. Also surviving are two sons, Phillip Hart of Clayton, and Carroll Hart of Ann Arbor; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; four stepdaughters,Mrs Tom (Sara) Sampeer of Farmington Hills, Mrs Donald (Janice) Farmer of Parma, Mrs John (Jane) Layton of Jackson, and Mary Sue Julian of Milan; two sisters, Mrs Basil (Jennette) McKenzie of Breckenridge, Mich and Mrs Earl (Carolyn) Kelly of Hudson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Henry. Services will be held at 11 am Saturday at the Brown-VanHemert Funeral home in Hudson with the Rev Myra sparks officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Hudson. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 pm today and from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm Friday.
