We Interrupt Your Regularly Scheduled Post

From a Baltimore Paper, 1867
"A colored man, named John Tubman, was shot and instantly killed yesterday evening, by Robert Vincent, a white man.  The shooting took place on the country road, about 6 miles from Cambridge.  A difficulty had occurred in the morning relative to the removal of some ashes from a tenant-house on Vincent's farm, and the parties again met about sundown on the public road, when the shooting took place"
According to the various links, there was a trial in which Robert was found not guilty by an all white jury and was hindered by the fact that the only witnesses were two black people - one was John's son.

It was jolt to stumble across this story while searching for my family.  I haven't been able figure out if this Robert's line is connected with my lines but what a sad and interesting story.

Harry E Vincent

Harry Ellsworth Vincent was the son of Charles H Vincent & Ellen K McCallum, born in 1884 at North River, Nova Scotia.  He married Minnie J Hall in 1909 and they had 4 children.

According to the Vincent Family Book by Sheriden Vincent, Harry inherited his father's farm - this makes sense given that the oldest boy left for Alberta and died 4 years before his father died.

It included that he was a gunsmith and a shooter which he pursued in hunting & in upland game shooting, a woodworker, a member of the choir and took an interest in genealogy - establishing connections outside of New Annan.

Also, he was a Government Enforcement Officer during prohibition before becoming a member of the RCMP.
