Allen J Armstrong, or Ally to his friends, was the son of George O Armstrong & Helen M Post and despite the accident, he had a successful career with the New York Central Railroad - first as telegrapher then working his way to Chief Dispatcher.

Monroe - Yesterday morning at 3 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs A Armstrong, formerly of Fairport, at her home in Buffalo. The deceased was the wife of Allen Armstrong and the daughter of Frederick Sutter, of this place, and had been ill but a week when the end came. Besides her husband and two children, she leaves a father, two brothers and three sisters. The remains will be taken to Fairport for burial. Brain and nerve trouble was the cause of her death.
Allen next married Lillian J Myers, the daughter of William Myers & Mary L Collum and they had 2 children - Frederick & Robert.

Allen J Armstrong Dies After Prolonged Illness
Allen J Armstrong, 50, chief night train dispatcher at the New York Central Station in this city for the past 10 years and one of the best known and best like men connected with the railroad, died at 1145 o'clock last night at his home, No 1664 West Colvin Street, where he had been ill since last May. Mr Armstrong was born at Wolcott and began his railroad work as an operator at Fairport in 1890. He was a born railroad man, careful, courteous and devoted to his work. His abilities were recognized and he advanced steadily until he was made Chief Dispatcher here. Besides his wife, Mr Armstrong leaves three sons, Royal, Fred and Robert Armstrong.

Royal L Armstrong, husband of Mrs Ethel Casler Armstrong of 228 Arlington Ave, Syracuse, died Sunday in Community General Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Fairport he had lived in Syracuse 60 years. He was a retired employee of [B C Smith Inc]. Mr Armstrong was a World War I veteran and a member of the American Legion Post, 41, Syracuse and [Utica] Lodge F & AM of Syracuse. Surviving besides his widow are a daughter, Mrs Edna M De Vaul of Lafayette; a son, Charles Nickels of Cayuga; two step-brothers, Frederick Armstrong of West Winfield, Robert Armstrong of Binghamton. Funeral services will be at 1030 am Tuesday at 6 Lewis St. The Rev Leon Northrop, pastor of [Wall Street] Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Cayuga. Friends may call from 930 am to 1030 am 6 Lewis St, Tuesday. Those desiring to do so may make contributions to the American Heart Fund.

F M Armstrong, Druggist, Dies
West Winfield - Fred Myers Armstrong of this village, manager of the Liggett Drug Store in Utica, died Sept 5 while vacationing at the family camp on Fourth Lake near old Forge. A former Rochester resident, he was a member of Ziyara Temple, Shriners; West Winfield Masonic Lodge; the Rotary Club; Utica Kiwanis Club and a former member of the Utica Retail Merchants Association. Besides his wife, Josephine, he leaves two sons, Lee P Armstrong and Fred M Armstrong, both of West Winfield. A private funeral will be Sunday from the Dorrow Funeral Home in Pittsford. Burial will be in Pittsford Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 tomorrow.
