Ruth M Lockrow


Ruth M Lockrow was the daughter of Charles A Lockrow & Hattie Augusta Peck. She married Thomas Lester Davis, the son of John C Davis & Mary A Moody and had 2 children - Jack & Doris.

Town of Malta - T Lester Davis, 77, a lifelong resident of the Town of Malta, was stricken with a fatal heart attack at the home of a neighbor Monday night. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Malta Ridge Methodist Church and the Malta Ridge Volunteer Fire Company. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Lockrow Davis; a daughter, Mrs Lyman Palmatier of Ballston Center; a son, Jack K Davis of Malta; one brother, Jay Arthur Davis of Hemitt, Calif and four grandchildren. The funeral will be held Thursday, 2 pm at the Kark and Tunison Funeral Home, Saratoga Springs. Burial will be in Greenridge Cemetery. The Rev Edwin Vonderheide will officiate.  Friends are invited to call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Fund in his memory.

Their son Jack H Davis was married three times.  His first wife, and mother of his children, was Mary Louise Pettis, the daughter of William J Pettis & Marcia Alberta Beebe. His 2nd wife was Olive Tobin, the daughter of Thomas H Tobin & Laura L Turnbull and third his wife was widower Hilda Clothier, the daughter of George E Streever & Lulu P Bryan.

Mrs Mary Louise Davis, 23, of the town of Malta, died at the Albany City Hospital at 6 pm yesterday after a brain operation. She was born in Wilton Nov 2, 1924, and was a member of the Malta Ridge Methodist Church. She was graduated from Saratoga High School in 1939. Surviving are her husband Jack H Davis; two children, Caryl T and John Eric Davis; her parents, Mr and Mrs William J Pettis of Wilton; one sister, Miss Evelyn Pettis; one brother, James Pettis, and two aunts, Mrs Warren Howe of Schenectady and Mrs Frank Perry of Saratoga Springs, and a grandmother, Mrs Elwina Pettis, Saratoga Springs. The funeral will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at the Kark & Tunison Funeral Home. The rev Edward G Williams of Sharon Springs will officiate, assisted by the Rev Oliver B Scouten of Malta Ridge, and the body will be place in the receiving vault at Greenridge Cemetery. The funeral home will be open from 7 to 9 pm Monday.

Ballston Spa - Mrs Olive Tobin Davis, 51, of RD 3, Ballston Sap, Town of Malta, the wife of Jack Davis, died unexpectedly Wednesday at her home. Mrs Davis was a native of Albany and had lived in Malta most of her life. She was a member of the Malta Ridge Methodist Church, Franklin Star Chapter, OES, the Malta Ridge Grange and the auxiliary of the Malta Ridge Fire Department. Besides her husband, she is survived by: a son, John Eric Davis, US Navy, Portsmouth, Va; a daughter, Mrs Caryl Dyer of Ballston Spa; a brother Richard Tobin of Round Lake and two grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at the Wheeler Funeral Home 2 pm Friday.  The Rev Edwin Vonderheide, pastor of the Malta Ridge Methodist Church to officiate.  Burial will be in the Greenrdige Cemetery, Saratoga Springs. The funeral home will be open tonight after 7. Memorial contributions may be made to the Malta Ambulance Corps. Franklin Star Chapter, OES, will conduct a service at 730 tonight at the funeral home, and Malta Ridge Grange will have a service tonight at 8 at the funeral home.

4-H tractor safety instructor Jack H Davis, 69, of RD 1, Fuller Road, Corinth died May 2 at Glens Falls Hospital, after a short illness. He was born in the town of Malta. Mr Davis lived in Corinth for the past 12 years and previously for 57 years in Malta Ridge. He worked as a tractor mechanic at West Mountain Tractor Sales in Glens Falls.  Mr Davis was a member of Malta Ridge United Methodist Church and Malta Ridge Grange and was active in the 4-H Tractor Safety and Maintenance Training Program for young farmers of the area. He is survived by his wife, the former Hilda Clothier; one daughter, Caryl T Dyer of Malta Ridge; one son, John E of Malta Ridge; two stepsons, Richard Fuller of Rochester and Bryan Clothier of Corinth; one sister, Doris Palmatier of Florida, and several grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the 4-H Capital Fund Drive, Cooperative Extension Office, 50 W High Street, Ballston Spa, 12020.
