Private Horatio Guild Peck was the oldest son of Ira Peck & Nancy Guild - Ira being the son of Joseph Peck & Phebe Vincent.
In 1847, he married Sarah Ann Edmonds and had 6 children from what I can gather and contradicts the genealogy book published by Ira Peck in 1868 - more on that in a bit.
Horatio enlisted in 1861 and went MIA in 1863 - turns out he had been captured in 1863 at VA before he was discovered sick in a hospital.

Horatio and Sarah both died in 1897 and as events would have it, one of their daughters died within days of her husband!

Horatio Peck, about 80
years of age, who had been a great sufferer from heart disease a number of
years, died after a lingering illness at his home in the western part of this
town last week Thursday. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church. He leaves
two daughters to mourn his loss, Mrs Carrie Simmons of New York and Mrs Jennie
Husted of this place.
The children of this pair is a bit confusing. If we use the work of Ira Peck that was published in 1868 in a booklet titled "A Genealogical History of the Descendants of Joseph Peck", it lists three children: Caroline, Jane & Elizabeth (pg 94) but the censuses don't match or, at the very least, are very misleading.
Caroline is the only one that matches; from the census, it appears Elizabeth died before 1870 so the focus is on the Jane who was born born 17 Oct 1851 per the book.
- On the 1850 census taken in Sept 1850, the pair have a one-month old girl named Mary.
- The 1855 census shows Carolyn (6) & it looks like Edney A (2)
- In 1860, the census taken in June shows 9 year old Mary F and 1 year old Margaret A - where's 12 year old Carolyn?
- In 1865, there is only Carolyn & Jennie
- The June of 1870 census shows 20 year old Caroline & 12 year old Jennie.
The strongest clue for the children is the birth of the last girl in 1861 & the book being published in 1868. This means that Mary
F/Mary, Edney & Margaret would all have been dead; leaving
Caroline, Jennie & Elizabeth - Elizabeth dying before 1870 &
after he taken inventory for his book.
According to the 1900 census, Jennie E has a birth month of Oct as well - is this the Jane from the book but the year of birth wrong? Every record shows Jennie was born around the 1858 year not 1851 so am leaning to the latter given that the Mary(s) & Edney weren't listed and he didn't count this family until after 1861.
So for my records, I have 6 children -Caroline, Mary F, Edney A (maybe a play on Edna?), Jane E/Jennie, Margaret & Elizabeth.

Caroline married Eugene W Simmons around 1871 and they had 1 daughter - Genevieve M Simmons. Eugene died in New Jersey and Caroline & Genevieve relocated to California where Caroline died in 1919.
Genevieve married at least 4 times - her last husband was a Mr Petterson. Genevieve had a daughter Ethel Lillian Gilman, the daughter of Marvin Gilman who died in 1925.

Howland K Huested - Popular Stillwater Man Passed Away Suddenly Thursday
The community was shocked on Thursday evening by news of the death of our popular townsman, H K Huested. Mr Huested had been in poor health during the past year, but had been about town and able to attend to his duties as usual up to the Monday before his death. he was born in Stillwater 59 years ago and had been a life long resident of this place. He first engaged in business here as a harness maker. Later he conducted a grocery business for 20 years. For the past 9 years he served as Town and County Tax Collector, having one year yet to serve, since his last election. He was an honest upright citizen, one who will be greatly missed in this community. He was a regular attendant at the Baptist Church and an active member of its Baraca class. The survivors are his wife, who was formerly Miss Jennie Peck, and two daughters, Mrs C M Chaney of Denver, Col and Mrs W W Gardner of El Paso, Texas. The funeral was held from the late residence on Monday at 2 o'clock and was largely attended. The Rev Myron H Wescott of the Baptist Church officiated. A duet, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" was very touchingly rendered by Miss Ida Curtis and Mrs Edward Cooper. Interment was at the family plot in the local cemetery.

Former Resident Dies
Word has reached Stillwater of the death of Mrs H K Huested at Denver, Col. Mrs Huested was for many years, a resident of this village.
Carolyn married a fella named William Wells Gardner in 1914 but then they both disappear - not a single census (or any record) for them after the marriage! Based on Lillian's obit in 1933, it appears she died before 1933. Based on William's father's obit, it appears William died before 1928 - when and where is a mystery.

Lillian M married Clyde Morgan Chaney, the son of Frank A Chaney & Mary Jane Morgan. As the obit below shows, like her grandparents who died close together, Lillian and her husband died within days of each other.
