Heybruck - Wright


Mary Eva Wright was the daughter of Lewis Thomas Wright & Harriet Eva Alley.  While she was briefly married to a Emott B VanTassel, she later married Edward T Heybruck in 1938 and they had a son Leonard Thomas Heybruck who died in 1991.

Mary E Heybruck who retired in 1973 as head cook at Arlington High School, died Tuesday at Vassar Brothers Hospital after a long illness. Mrs Heybruck was a lifelong resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie. She was a member of St Martin de Porres Church, 40 Cedar Valley road, Town of Poughkeepsie and the American Association of Retired Persons. She was born Feb 17, 1907 in LaGrangeville, the daughter of Louis T and Hattie Alley Wright. She was educated in Millbrook schools.  She was married Nov 20, 1937, in Poughkeepsie to Edward Heybruck who survives. In addition to her husband, Mrs Heybruck is survived by one son Leonard T Heybruck of Poughkeepsie; one sister Carol Segur of [?]; four brothers George Wright of Silsbee, Texas, Thomas Wright, Nehemiah Wright and John Wright, all of LaGrangeville; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be tonight from 7 to 9 at the Robert H Auchmoody Funeral Home, 16 Grand Ave, Poughkeepsie. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered Friday at 1 pm at St Martin de Porres Church, Town of Poughkeepsie with Father John Brinn officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Town of Poughkeepsie. Memorial donations may be made to the Arlington Ambulance Corps.

Edward T Heybruck, 74, a custodian with the Wappingers Central School District until his retirement in 1975, died Wednesday at Vassar Brothers Hospital. Mr Heybruck had lived in the Town of Poughkeepsie most of his life. He was a member of St Martin de Porres Church, Cedar Valley Road. Mr Heybruck was a member of the Knights of Columbus Florentine Council of Poughkeepsie. He was born Nov 12, 1911 in Kingston, the son of Carl and Margaret Hammernick Heybruck. He attended Poughkeepsie schools. Mr Heybruck was married Nov 20, 1937 in Poughkeepsie to Mary E Wright who died in 1983. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard Heybruck in 1984 and William Heybruck in 1981. Mr Heybruck is survived by a son, Leonard T Heybruck of Poughkeepsie; two sisters, Margaret Riter and Rosalie Calaluca, both of Poughkeepsie; two granddaughters, and three cousins. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 pm today at the Robert H Auchmoody Funeral Home, 16 Grand Ave, City of Poughkeepsie. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 am Saturday at St Martin de Porres Church, with the Rev John Brinn officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Shaffer - Wright

Susan Wickes Wright, the daughter of Lewis Thomas Wright & Harriet Eva Alley, married Harold F Shaffer, the son of Oscar Shaffer & Ellenita Abel.  

Harold & Susan had 7 children  - Harold Jr, Samuel, Alice, Lois, Susan, Betty & Genevieve.

Farmer Found Dead

A 69-year-old retired Dutchess County farmer, who was found dead in a field with a bullet wound in the head Friday, apparently took his own life, according to Sheriff Lawrence M Quinlan. The victim, Harold Shaffer of Union Vale, had been in ill health. No notes were found.

Private Rites Set For Harold Shaffer

Private funeral services for Harold F Shaffer, 68, Pray Road, Billings, who died yesterday, will be conducted by the Rev Darrell Darling, minister of the Verbank Methodist Church, and interment will be in LaGrangeville. Mr Shaffer was born in the Town of Beekman Sept 15, 1894, the son of Oscar and Ellnita Abel Shaffer. A retired farmer, he was a member of the LaGrange Fire Co and the Sylvan Grange. Surviving are his wife, the former Susan Wright; a son, Samuel H; four daughters, Mrs Alice C Phelps, Mrs Lois E Eveans, Mrs Lee Andrews and Mrs Betty Shipley, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Allen Funeral Home Inc, Millbrook, tonight from 7 to 9 pm

Their oldest boy, Harold Jr, died as a result of falling out of vehicle at the age of 8.

Bureau Suspends Driving Licenses - Sheriff Notified of Action Taken In Cases of John Wright and F Phillip Hoag
The driving license of John Wright of LaGrangeville has been suspended by the Motor Vehicle Bureau pending investigation of the accident in which Harold Shaffer, [8], was killed several weeks ago. The boy fell from Wright's truck and sustained a fractured skull. No charge has been made against Wright and Coroner John A Card has absolved him of any blame. The license of F Philip Hoag of Poughkeepsie has been suspended pending investigation into an accident in this city April 25 in which his daughter, Elisabeth was injured. Sheriff G Fred close received notices yesterday of the suspensions.

Lewis Thomas Wright was the son of Thomas Wright & Phoebe Rogers. In 1896, he married Harriet Eva Alley, the daughter of John Swade Alley & Mary Eva Potter.

I couldn't find an obit for either of them but I did find a story where they went to Washington for the inauguration of Roosevelt in 1937.  

Lewis and Hattie had 10 children! Lewis Jr, Willard, Susan, John, Mary, Thomas, Nehemiah, George, Robert, and Caroline.

Moore's Mills - Lewis T Wright Jr, 61, died at his home in Moore's Mills on Monday, August 18. An auctioneer and farmer, Mr Wright resided here for 21 years. He was the son of Mrs Hattie Allie Wright and the late Lewis T Wright Sr, and was born in LaGrangeville on March 1, 1897. He made his home there for some years. Mr Wright was a member of Union Vale Grange. He is survived, in addition to his mother, by his wife, Mrs Adeline K A Wright; six brothers, Willard Chester, John A, Thomas, Nick and Robert Wright of LaGrangeville, and George Wright, Silsbee, Texas; three sisters, Mrs Susan W Shaffer and Mrs Mary E Heybruck, LaGrangeville, and Mrs Carol Segur, Hopewell Junction, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at the LaGrangeville Methodist Church at 230 today, August 21. Burial will be in the La Grange Cemetery.

Willard Chester Wright married Ruth Esther Warren, the daughter of James H Warren & Mary J Baker and they had 6 children - Ruth, Willard Jr, Dorothy, Nancy, Lewis & Richard.

LaGrangeville - W Chester Wright Sr, 82, of Noxon Road, Town of LaGrange, died at his home Saturday. He was born in LaGrangeville on March 6, 1899. He married to the former Ruth E Warren, who died March 17, 1974. In addition to the survivors listed in Monday's edition, Mr Wright is also survived by a daughter Mrs Nancy DeSantis of LaGrangeville.

Friends will be received at the Robert H Auchmoody Funeral Home, Main St, Fishkill on Tuesday 3-4 and 7-9 pm. Hopewell Junction - James A McKeown, III, 14, of West Clove Mt Road, Town of LaGrange, died Wednesday (July 25, 1973) at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie of injuries he received in a motorcycle accident. an area resident most of his life, he would have been a student in the Arlington High School this fall. He was active in school basketball. He was a member of St Denis-St Columbia Church. He was born in Poughkeepsie, Aug 13, 1958 to James A McKeown Jr and the former Nancy Wright. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother Patrick, two sisters, Michele and Maureen McKeown, all at home; his paternal grandfather, James A McKeown Sr of Prt Salerno, Fla, his maternal grandparents, Mr and Mrs Chester Wright of LaGrange, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Arrangements are by the Robert H Auchmoody Funeral Home.

Wappingers Man Is Dead
Wappingers Falls - John Swade Alley died at his home on the South road, town of Poughkeepsie, Saturday at 11 pm. Mr Alley was born in the Town of LaGrange, 9 Jan 1850, the son of Jesse and Phoebe Swade Alley. His wife, Mrs Mary Potter Alley, died in 1925. He was a member of the Hopewell Junction Reformed Church and was a farmer at Fishkill Plains until nine years ago. Since then he made his home with his son on the South road. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Susan Van Kleeck, South road; Mrs Louis T Wright, LaGrangeville; Miss Carrie B Alley, South road; two sons, George alley, South road; and Berthold Alley, Fishkill Plains; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held at the Roberts Funeral Home, Messier Avenue, Tuesday at 1:30 pm. The Rev Evart W Brass of the Claverack Reformed Church, formerly of the Hopewell Junction Reformed church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Hopewell Junction Rural Cemetery. The grandsons will be the bearers. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 pm

Mrs Mary Potter Alley Dies at Her Daughter's
Wappingers Falls, March 11 - Mrs Mary Potter Alley, aged 71 years, wife of John S Alley of the Town of La Grange, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Robert M VanKleeck of Knapp Corners on Tuesday morning after a long illness. Mrs Alley suffered a stroke while visiting her daughter about three years ago and has been an invalid from that time. She is survived by her husband, three daughters and one son. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 230 o'clock at the Reformed Church of Hopewell and interment will be in the family plot in the Hopewell Cemetery. H H Roseboom, undertaker, is in charge of arrangements.

John & Mary's daughter Suzanne A Alley married Robert M Van Kleeck - via this marriage we have a dual connection to the Vincent line.

Suzanne back to John L Swade & Hannah Johnson - to Jeremiah Johnson & Phebe Rogers, to Hezekiah Rogers & Hannah Vincent. Robert's parents were Charles E Van Kleeck & Katherine B Rogers - via Charles' line, it traces back to Phebe Rogers' brother, John Rogers.

Suzanne & Robert did not have any children.

Robert M Van Kleeck Dies in His 61st Year
Robert M Van Kleeck, 60, farmer of the town of Poughkeepsie, died at his home, Knapp's Corner, Monday after a four days' illness of heart disease. The funeral will be held from the home at 230 o'clock tomorrow afternoon with services by the Rev Addison Bird. Burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery under the direction of H H Roseboom of Wappingers Falls. Mr Van Kleeck was a member of the family which immigrated from Holland. He had lived in his present home 33 years. He was an active member of Oak Grove grand and was one of the first masters of the grange. He is survived only by his wife, Mrs Suzanne Alley Van Kleeck and a cousin.
