Irma Eileen Wood married John 'Densmore' Buchanan and their son was William Densmore Buchanan. It appears mother and son died during childbirth.

Mrs J Densmore Buchanan, 28, of Nekoosa, formerly of Plainfield, died last Sunday evening at 6 o'clock at Riverview Hospital at Wisconsin Rapids following the birth on Sunday morning of a son who passed away on Monday. Mrs Buchanan, whose maiden name was Irma Eileen wood, a daughter of Mr and Mrs D M Wood, was born at Plainfield on September 8, 1907. The Wood family moved to Nekoosa several years ago. Mr and Mrs Buchanan were married at Waukegan, Illinois, on October 30, 1933. The infant son named William Densmore Buchanan and was buried with his mother. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Buchanan home at 1:30 o'clock and at 2 o'clock at the Nekoosa First Congregational Church. Rev C A O'Neill officiated and interment took place at Riverside Cemetery at Nekoosa. Mrs Buchanan is survived by her husband, parents and four sisters, Mrs Irving Hinkle and Arlene, Bonnie and Carol Wood, all of Nekoosa.

Arlene Velma Wood married George Edward Gjertsen and they had a daughter named Gayle.  


Arlene died in 1974 & George died in 2002.

Norma Delphine Wood married Irving Ralph Hinkle, the son of Frederick Hinkle & Julianna Braun and they had 4 children - Juliann, Donald, Kerry, & Kay.

Mrs Norma D Hinkle, 62, 824 1st St, Nekoosa, died at 11:30 pm Saturday at st Michael's Hospital, Stevens Point, where she had been admitted Jul 8. Death followed a coronary seizure. Services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Rev James Buckman officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Mrs Hinkle was born in Plainfield July 1, 1910, the daughter of Mr and Mrs D M Wood. She had been employed as a secretary receptionist for Nekoosa Foundry and Machine Works the past 13 years. She married Irving R Hinkle at St Paul Sept 18, 1933. He died Dec 27, 1943. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs John Voss, Nekossa and Mrs Gordon Wegner, International Falls, Minn; a son Kerry Hinkle, Wisconsin Rapids; three sisters, Mrs George Gjertsen, Rt 1, Nekoosa; Mrs Harry w Young, Wisconsin Rapids, and Mrs Donald Mullenix, Nekoosa. Then grandchildren also survive. A son and a sister preceded her in death. Friends may call at the Feldner Funeral Home from 2 pm Tuesday until 11 am Wednesday and at the church from noon until time of services.

Funeral Services On Thursday For Irving R Hinkle
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, at 1:30 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church for Irving R Hinkle, 33, of Nekoosa, who died of a gunshot wound accidentally inflicted while preparing his gun for hunting at 11:30 am Monday. The Rev Fred Kersten will officiate and interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Irving Ralph Hinkle was born in Nekoosa on August 17, 1910, the son of Frederick and Juliann Hinkle and lived in the community all his life. He married Norma Woo at St Paul, Minn on September 18, 1932. Survives with three children, Juilann, Kerry and Kay. He leaves three brothers, Charles of Numster, Ind; William of Pasadena, Calif, and Emil of Norfolk, Va; and two sisters, Mrs Adolph Knudson of Green Bay and Mrs henry Olm of Kaukauna. His parents preceded him in death. The body will be taken to the H H Voss residence Tuesday evening, where friends may pay their respects until time of services. Voss funeral service has charge of arrangements.

Infant Son Dies
Pneumonia proved fatal to Donald Delos Hinkle, 15-month-old son of Mr and Mrs Irving Hinkle, Nekoosa, at Riverview Hospital. He died Tuesday at 8:15 pm after only a two day illness. Donald was born on October 2, 1936. Besides his parent, he is survived by a brother Kerry and a sister Juliann. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 pm from the residence, the Rev Fred Kersten officiating. Burial is to be made in Riverside Cemetery.

Bonnie Mae Wood married Harry William Young, the son of William H Young & Elizabeth M Oelke and they had 3 children.

Lois Adelaide Perry was the daughter of Norman James Perry Sr & Adelaide Devoe and she married Delos Marcus Wood, the son of Hiram C Wood & Delphine A Stillwell; together they had 5 children: Irma, Arlene, Norma, Bonnie & Carol.

Mrs D M Wood Dies, Services On Saturday
Mrs D M Wood, 64, died Tuesday at her home at 411 First Street, Nekoosa, Following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:15 Saturday afternoon at the Nekoosa Congregational Church with the Rev C A O'Neill officiating. Burial will be in the Plainfield Cemetery. Mrs Wood, whose maiden name was Lois Perry, was born in Plainfield on October 15, 1883, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Norman Perry, and married Mr Wood there November 7, 1906. Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs Irving Hinkle, Mrs George Gjertsen, Bonnie Wood and Mrs Donald Mullenix. all of Nekoosa; a step-sister, Mrs Dora Marshall, Westfield and five grandchildren. One daughter Irma, a brother Norman Perry and a step-brother, Samuel Clark, preceded her in death. The body will be taken to the H H Voss residence Friday morning where friends may call until time of services.

Funeral Services Held Here For D. M. Wood, Former Resident
Funeral services were held here at the Methodist church for Delos M. Wood of Nekoosa, a former resident of this vicinity, who died at the home of his daughter in Nekoosa Tuesday morning of last week, after an illness of two weeks. Delos Wood was born at Plainfield Aug. 5, 1867, and was 82 yrs. of age at the time of his death. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram C. Wood. He grew to manhood in this vicinity and in Dec. 1886, he was united in marriage to Miss Florence Goult of Plainfield, who died in 1904. Two years later he was married to Lois Perry, who died in 1947. Mr. Wood engaged in farming in the Plainfield area and about 26 years ago moved to Nekoosa, where he was employed by the Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Co. for a year and later by the Walker-Gwin Co. For about eight years he was street commissioner of Nekoosa. He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Geo. Gjertsen, Mrs. Norma Hinkle and Mrs. Donald Mullenix, of Nekoosa and Mrs. Harry Young of Rudolph; two brothers, Warren and Clarence Wood of Helena, Mont.; two sisters, Mrs. Delia Waterman of Plainfield and Mrs. Marie Bound of Portland, Ore.; also six grandchildren. J. A. Wood, Clyde and Gyle Ellis, Harry, George and Howard Potton, cousins of the deceased, acted as pallbearers. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The Rev. Chas. A. Briggs officiated at the funeral and burial was made in the Plainfield cemetery.

Stoddard Bits

The Philo line runs deeps among the Vincents as it twists and turns with the Rosekrans.

Sarah Philo was the daughter of Hiram Philo & Amy Coffin out of Warren Co, NY. She married Francis H Stoddard, the son of Charles S Stoddard & Laura Cook.  Francis & Sarah had 4 children - Ray, Hiram, George, Albert & Mary.

Mrs Sarah Philo Stoddard, age sixty-three, died Saturday evening at 8:10 o'clock in the home of her sister, Mrs Emma Tefft, 331 Glen Street. Mrs Stoddard is survived by her husband, Francis H Stoddard; four sons, Ray F Stoddard, Hiram R Stoddard, George G Stoddard and Albert T Stoddard; three sisters, Miss Lina Philo, Miss Janie Philo and Mrs Emma Tefft, and two brothers, Owen Philo and Rosenkrantz Philo. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev Mr Lockwood of Hudson Falls will officiate. Interment will be in the Glens Falls Cemetery.

A T Stoddard Sr, father of local minister, dies
Albert T Stoddard Sr, 83, of 196 Main Street, Randolph, died at his home Tuesday morning, Sept 19, 1972. Mr Stoddard came to Randolph four years ago to make his home with his son, the Rev Albert T Stoddard Jr. Born Feb 13, 1889 in Glens Falls, he had lived in that area most of his life. He was the son of Francis and Sarah Philo Stoddard. He was married to Bertha Dickinson April 24, 1910. She died Feb 27, 1965. He had retired in 1958 as a master mechanic at Imperial Color Company and was a member of the Carpenters Union. He attended the United Presbyterian Church of Randolph. In addition to the Rev Stoddard, he is survived by three other sons, Richard D Stoddard of Warwick, RI, Charles S Stoddard of Needham, Mass, and Byron C Stoddard of Hudson Falls; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Potter Funeral Home in Glens Falls Friday at 2 pm. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday. Burial will be in Glens Falls. The family asks that any memorials be made to the United Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

Mrs Berta D Stoddard, 73, wife of Albert T Stoddard, of Glens Falls, died Saturday evening in the Glens Falls Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Potter Funeral Home in Glens Falls with the Rev David Blackshear, pastor of the Hudson Falls Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was in the Glens Falls Cemetery. Mrs Stoddard is survived by her husband and four sons, Rev Albert T Stoddard, Salem; Richard D, Warwick, RI; Charles S, Needham, Mass; Byron C, Hudson Falls; and by a brother, Richard O Dickinson, Meriden, Conn; a sister, Mrs Sarah Lennon, New Haven, Conn; seven grandchildren, a great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

George S Stoddard died suddenly at the Saratoga Hospital last night. He resided at Jones Rd, RD 2, Saratoga Springs. Born in Glens Falls June 16, 1884, he had lived here for the past 45 years. Before his retirement he was a general contractor. He is survived by one son, Francis H; one daughter, Mrs George F Perkins, both of Saratoga Springs; 3 grandchildren; one brother, Albert T Stoddard, Glens Falls. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 am at the Bussing Funeral Home with the Rev George C Field, Betheada Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Brick Church Cemetery, Wilton. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow from 7 to 9 pm.

Survivors besides her husband include one son, Francis H Stoddard, one Daughter, Mrs George Foster Perkins, and one sister, Mrs Frank A Bonney, all of Saratoga. Private funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 pm tomorrow, the Rev Albert Stoddard officiating. Burial will be in Brick Church Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 pm today. Philo Cousins


Henry, Rosekrans & Owen Philo were sons of Hiram Philo & Amy Coffin. While Owen & Rosekrans had one living son and one living grandchild, Henry had 2 sons.

Harry Day Philo was the only child of Rosekrans Philo & Carrie Estella Rozelle. Harry divorced his first wife Kathryn E Rozelle and married Bertha May Seeley, the daughter of Warren E Seeley & Alice Myers. They had one son, Clifford Harry Philo

Funeral services for Harry D Philo, 5 Philo Avenue, who died Tuesday at the Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, will be conducted Friday at 230 pm at the home.  The Rev Herman B Murdock, junior minister of Christ Church, will officiate.  Interment will be in Glens Falls Cemetery. He was buried on 7 Aug 1942 at Glens Falls Cemetery in Glens Falls, Warren Co, New York.

Hiram Roland Philo was the only living son of Owen Philo & Edna Louise Durrin. Sherman Philo died at 8mths in New Hampshire.

At the age of 25 he married Mae D Cheney, the daughter of David H Cheney & Julia A Tubbs.  Together they had 2 sons, Reginald who died in infancy & Roger Hiram Philo who appears to have never married.  

At the age of 27, while out on Lake George, Hiram & 2 others drown after being caught in a storm, leaving a 22 year old girl a widow & his son fatherless. Mae did remarry and she died in 1966

Mrs Barton Rite Set
S Glens Falls - Mrs Mae D Barton, 113 Saratoga Ave, South Glens Falls, died Wednesday morning at the Glens Falls Hospital. She was a member of the South Glens Falls Friends Church. Survivors include one nephew, Ralph MacNiel of Rochester, Vt, several cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 pm at the Regan and Denny Funeral Chapel, 94 Saratoga Ave, South Glens Falls, the Rev Barton Van Vliet, pastor of the Fort Ann United Protestant Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Glens Falls Cemetery. Mrs Barton has requested that there be no flowers, no visiting hours.

George Bebee Philo was the 2nd son of Henry Philo & Garfelia E Fowler; the first born was Lewis H Philo.

George Beebe Philo, floor man at the Irving Trust company, died Sunday at his home, 118 Shepherd Ave, after a three weeks' illness. He was born in Troy, NY and lived in Brooklyn for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs Josephine Shaddock Philo. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10:30 o'clock with interment in Greenfield Cemetery, Hempstead, LI.

Gardner Clan



Ethelyn 'Mae' Rogers was the daughter of Franklin Leslie Rogers & Frances Josephine Orr. 

Sadly, she was the only living child of 4 - a baby girl, another girl named Matie & a son, Willie, all died in infancy.

Ethelyn married Frank Eugene Gardner, the son of Henry H Gardner & Mary A Phillips.  Together they had 2 children, Morris & Mary.

RECEIVE WORD OF DEATH OF FORMER OSAGE MAN
Osage – Harry Johnson has received word of the death of his uncle, Frank Gardner, at his home in Inglewood, California. Mr. and Mrs. Gardner were former residents of Osage. Surviving are his widow and two children; Maurice and Mary Frances. Funeral services were held there Tuesday. He was buried on 19 Mar 1942 at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, Los Angeles Co, California.

A Little Rogers Clan

Henry Philo Rogers was the son of Horation Martion Rogers & Many Ann Philo (Philo the connection to our lines). He was a farmer who married Nettie May Tyrrell, the daughter of George F Tyrrell & Lavina St John.
