Willson Obits

Addie Ann Faunce was the daughter of Bradley E Faunce & Margaret Cooper out of Olean, NY. In 1894, she married Frank Leroy Willson, the son of Durand F Willson & Elvira Eastman. While his parents were New Yorkers, they were in Myrtle, PA when Frank was born in 1873.

Frank & Addie had 5 children - Eugene Bradley, Bernice viola, Harry C, Dana Faunce & Nellie.  Nellie is a bit of dead end for me. She is on the 1910 census as being 2 months but not on the 1915 census with the family which indicates she must have died before then.

Toll of Two Lives Taken When Motorcycle Crashes Into Pole; One Injured
Harry Wilson, motorcycle driver, almost instantly killed - Clinton Clark of Bolivar, dies one hour after accident - Larry Wasson of Bolivar, is seriously hurt.
Two are dead and one injured as a result of a motorcycle crashing into a telephone pole at Prosper, between Main Settlement and Ceres last night. The dead: Harry Willson, 20 years old driver of the machine, son of Mr and Mrs Frank Willson of 620 East State Street. Clinton Clark, [25] years old, an oil well worker of Bolivar, married. The injured: Larry Wasson, 42 years old, an oil well worker of Bolivar, married, right shoulder blade fractured and possible internal injuries.
Deaths of Willson and Clark were caused by fractured skulls. Willson, it was reported, was hurled against the pole. His head was crushed and the jaw was fractured in two places. Clark and Wasson, riding in the side car, were also thrown from the machine. Clark landed on his head, the left temple striking. Edward Colomey, a chauffeur, was the first to reach the place after the accident occurred. He was driving a big car. He said he saw other persons rushing toward the place, but they told him they did not see the accident when it occurred. Mr Colomey took Willson and Clark in his machine and rushed them to the Mountain Clinic. Wasson, who did not seem severely hurt at the time, was brought to the hospital in another car. Willson was dead when the Clinic was reached. Clark died one hour later. The accident, according to one supposition, was caused when the front wheel of the machine was caught between the car tracks and the pavement, bringing about a change in direction in the motorcycle and sending it against the post. It was also thought that the steering apparatus when wrong, but, if it did, it will never be learned from investigation of the machine, for the motorcycle was wrecked in the collision. Coroner [E B Burdren] deemed an investigation unnecessary as the collision with the pole was plainly an accident. Bodies of the dead men were taken to the Helwig undertaking establishment last night. The body of Clark was later taken to Bolivar and the body of Willson was taken to the family home this morning. Mr Willson is survived by his parents; two brothers, Eugene and Dana, and one sister, Mrs A J Swanson, of this city. He was a member of Company I, 74th Regiment and secretary of the Olean Motorcycle Club. Mr Clark was a married man. Mr Wasson is married and has a wife and two children. Funeral services for Harry Willson will take place in the home at 230 o'clock Friday afternoon. Rev Hugh Boyd will officiate. Burial will be made in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

My Found King Family

A few blogs ago I wrote about finding Creighton King's obit and that it had a clue to one of my dead ends - his sister Laura - here's the result of my research.

Laura was the youngest of James King & Harriet Amelia Vincent and was born in 1900 at New Haven, CT.  In 1922, she married Sidney Loftus, the son Irish parents William Loftus & Sarah Walker.  They had 2 sons but the youngest died before them all. Sidney outlived them all dying in 1980.

In reviewing Laura's obit (below), it led to my finding the other dead end in the family - her sister Olive!

A Dusenbery Clan

The spelling of the Dusenbery name varies - Dusenbury, Dusenberry, Duzenbury - so forgive me in advance for discrepancies that might be confusing!

Lorenzo Dusenbery was the son of John John Dusenbury & Adelia Meriah Eldridge. He married a girl named Ormacinda Easton, the daughter of Charles M Easton & Sarah Fitch and they had 2 children - Emma & Newton.
Ancestry/Family Search Probate Records

Based on this probate entry from Wayne County, Minutes, Orders, Decrees, Vol M, 1874-1879, I was able to confirm that Lorenzo died in 1879. Trees on ancestry have the specific date of death as  16 Mar 1879.

Ormacinda died in 1923 and I believe both are buried at the Glenside Cemetery with the rest of their family.

Port Byron Chronicle, Sat, 10 Feb 1923
The funeral of Mrs Ormacinda Dusenbery was held from the home of her son, Newton E Dusenbury, Sunday, January 27th. Mrs Dusenbury was 85 years of age, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Easton and her birthplace near Red Creek. She came to Wolcott over thirty years ago. Although not a strong woman, she was quite active until last Christmas eve, when she fell in her room while retiring for the night, and broke her hip. She was a good Christian woman with decided ideas of right and wrong. She is survived by one son, N E Dusenbery of Wolcott, and four grandchildren. Her daughter, Mrs Emma Wolvin died last year.

Mrs Emma Wolven Dies Of Strangulated Hernia
Mrs Emma M Wolven died at her home in Main Street at 830 pm last Thursday, of strangulated hernia, aged 58 years, 3 months and 9 days. Her death came as a great surprise to all who knew her - perhaps as a greater surprise to them than to herself, for she had predicted for some time that she would go suddenly and before a great while. She was prostrated recently by pneumonia, but had recovered from that and was down on the street only a couple of days before her death. But she had long suffered from hernia, and when a renewed crisis came from this disease, she did not have strength to withstand the attack, but passed away in a short time. Mrs Wolven was a daughter of the late Lorenzo Dusenbery, and was born Sept 6, 1863. Most of her life was spent in this section, either near Red Creek or in or near this village. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs Ira Foster, and Mrs John Wyatt; her aged mother, Mrs Ormacinda Dusenberry, and her brother, Newton E Dusenbery, all of this village. The funeral was held at 2 pm Sunday, the Rev S G Houghton officiating, with interment in Glenside Cemetery. The display of flowers was remarkable, both in quantity and variety.
