Franklyn D Rosekrans


Franklyn D Rosekrans was the brother to Howard from the last post and he married Mary Ann Ciejka, daughter of Polish parents Joseph W Ciejka & Victoria DeLong.

Colonie - Franklyn D Rosekrans Sr, 69, of 50 Jones Drive, a veteran of World War II, was pronounced dead on arrival at St Clair's Hospital, Schenectady, where he was taken Sunday after being stricken at a car wash on Liska Kill Road. Schenectady County Medical Examiner Dr Henry Damm gave the verdict of death due to natural causes. He was born in Troy, son of the late Lorenzo and Emma Harrison Rosekrans, and resided in Watervliet until 19 years ago when he moved to Colonie. He was educated in Watervliet schools. He had been employed by the Adirondack Steel Castings Company for more than 3 years, retiring one year ago. Mr Rosekrans was a veteran of the US Navy, in which he served overseas during World War II. He was a life member of the Watervliet City Post, VFW, Albany Pup Tent, Order of Cooties; the Schenectady Chapter of the New York Association of Retarded Children; the United Steel Workers of America and the First United Presbyterian Church of Troy. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary A Ciejka; two sons, Franklyn D Rosekrans Jr, of Schenectady and Earl James Rosekrans of Colonie; a daughter, Mrs Donald Gregory of Wahiawa, Hawaii; three brothers, Richard Rosekrans of Doylestown, Pa, Howard Rosekrans Sr of Watervliet and Carl Rosekrans of Protem, Mo; a sister, Mrs Florence McAllister of Troy, and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 10 am Wednesday from Parker Bros Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, with Rev Davis S Blackshear, co-pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church of Troy, officiating. Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.

Mary Rosekrans, Albany Born, 69
Mary Ciejka Rosekrans, 69, of 1047 Second Ave, formerly of Jones Drive in Colonie, died Saturday at her home after a long illness. Born in Albany, she was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of the Colonie Senior Citizens, the American Association of Retired Persons, and a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Troy. She attended Grace United Methodist Church in Schenectady. She was married to Franklyn D Rosekrans Sr who died in 1974. Survivors include two sons, Franklyn D Rosekrans Jr of Schenectady and Earl James Rosekrans of Altamont; a daughter Barbara Ann Gregory of Pensacola, Fla; five sisters, Josephine Stasack, Stella Stasack, Lillian Huskie and Bertha Sheehan, all of Troy, and Jane Barney of Ballston Spa; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. A service will be held at 10 am Wednesday at the Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St. Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 pm tomorrow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Schenectady.
