State police scuba divers assigned to Troop G in Loudonville discovered the body of Charles Morgan Bloodgood, 26, of RD 3, Ballston Spa, missing since Sunday, in waters about 65 feet deep off Manning Cove in Saratoga lake about noon yesterday. Saratoga County Coroner Harold L Hall ordered the body removed to the Wheeler Funeral Home in Ballston Spa. Hall issued a verdict of accidental death due to drowning. State police and many volunteers labored for four days in an attempt to find Bloodgood. The body was found about in the center of Saratoga Lake, near the spot he was last seen about 1:45 pm Sunday. Sergeant Robert E Lund, commander of the Malta State Police substation, said that after the 10-foot aluminum boat had capsized, Bloodgood's two companions clung to the overturned craft about 20 minutes until nearby fishermen rescued them. Bloodgood, who was described as "a good swimmer" by authorities, attempted to swim to shore, state police said. He suddenly went under a short distance from the boat. He was fishing with an uncle, Jessie I Taber of Troy, and Marshall Geeseman of Selkirk about 200 yards off shore when the accident occurred. He was employed at the state campus in Albany, maintenance division. He was a member of the Malta Ridge volunteer fire department, Malta Ridge Methodist Church, Rising Sun Masonic Lodge, Saratoga Springs, and served in the navy. Survivors are his widow, Mrs Lillian Taber Bloodgood; three children, Cheryl, 3, Kim, 2, and Charles, 6 months; his parents, Malta Justice and Mrs Morgan E Bloodgood; one brother, Robert Bloodgood, and two sisters, Miss Diane Bloodgood and Mrs Carlyne Dellaporta, all of Ballston Spa. Services have been set for 2 pm Saturday at the Wheeler Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ballston Village Cemetery. Rev Edwin Vonderheide, pastor of the Malta Ridge Methodist Church, will officiate. The funeral home will be open after 7 pm Friday.
