A Williams Clan


Earl Ward Williams, the son of Mark Williams and Ida McPherson married into our Vincent clan via Dorothy Irene McCord in 1937.  Dorothy was the daughter of Clarence Leander McCord & Estelle Rue Johnstone.

Together they had 2 children - Dona Rue & Larry Earl

Dona died in 2001; Larry was killed in a car accident

Larry Williams, 27, of 2404 Algonquin Road, Rolling Meadows, was killed in a car accident Saturday in Rockford. A native of Davenport, Iowa, he graduated from high school in Davenport; attended college for two years; served four years in US Air Force, and was employed as a salesman for Rudolph Jewelry Co in Chicago. Funeral services will be at 10 am today in Runge Funeral Home, Davenport, with burial to follow in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Ingeborg; a daughter Brenda; his parents, Mr and Mrs Earl Williams of Prospect Heights; a sister Mrs Gary Quandt of Des Moines, and his grandparents, Mr and Mrs Clarence McCord of Davenport.

Dorothy I Williams, 91, formerly of Davenport, was called home Monday, June 8, at the Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Prophetstown, Ill. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 14, 2009, 10 am at Runge Mortuary with visitation Saturday from 6 to 8 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Nursing Home, 310 Mosher Dr, Prophetstown, IL, 61277. Dorothy was born October 29, 1917, in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence L and Estelle (Johnstone) McCord.  She was united in marriage to Earl Williams, June 2, 1937, in Davenport. He died August 1984. Dorothy enjoyed singing barbershop quartette with her group The Spare Timer's. She also sang with her husband, they were known as Dot'N'I. She mastered fishing while doing so with her husband for many years. Dorothy always rode at the front of the boat and she always tied up. She dearly loved time with her family. She and her husband set aside their plans for retirement and helped raise their four grandsons. They later retired to a beautiful home in the peaceful Bull Shoals, Ark. Those left to honor her memory include her sister, Lois Charlton; grandchildren, Guy Own Quandt, Terry Ross Quandt, Scott Earl Quandt, Timothy Rue Quandt, Brenda Williams; 8 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded death by her children, Dona Rue and Larry Earl, and brother, Allen McCord.

Martin Mann + Evelyn Batten

Evelyn B Mann was born Evelyn June Batten, the daughter of William Henry Batten & Jennie May Manning – a descendant of Hezekiah Rogers Jr & Hannah Vincent.

In 1942, Evelyn married Martin Henry Mann – the son of William H Mann & Lillian A Hunter.  Martin, nicknamed Whitney, served during WWII and worked as a Millwright.
