Samuel Whidden 1813-1892 |
The Vincents are intertwined with the Whiddens in more than one way. Do you remember Grandma Whidden? How about the fella in this picture, Samuel Whidden?
Samuel Whidden married Sophia Vincent and together they had 15 children but what is most interesting for today is that Samuel Whidden was a twin!
Twin to the father of another connection to our family - that is John Whidden (1813-1874). John married a Jessie McLellan in Scotland and their first son, Alexander, was born there as well despite all the records to the contrary.
Alexander Whidden 1839-1926 |
Alexander ended up marrying Sarah Stevens, the
daughter of Joshua Stevens & Lydia Vincent and together they had 7 children.
Sarah Whidden nee Stevens 1844-1933 |
These amazing
photographs were shared by Ancestry user FedePeinado – thank you so much!
Is there a resemblance to Samuel?
And does this mean he is technically a Scot along with his children? Or a misplaced Maritimer? A mind-tickler!
Alexander and Sarah are buried at the New Annan Bell Gift Cemetery in Nova Scotia.
