Before Charles died in 1924, they lost 2 babies - Marion Arnetta in 1915 & Elsie Leora in 1920; then most were fostered & one adopted.
From records, it appears the 2 oldest girls, Marguerite & Helen, stayed with Jessie - I imagine because they both could work & were close to marrying age. Ralph & Beverly appear to have been taken in by Jessie's sister Elsie; Donald stayed with a couple by the name of Henry & Ethel Vail until he could enlist and was at Fort Clayton in the 1940s. And the baby was given up for adoption.
