Purchase, aged 82, of 3818 Standish Ave, NE, widow of Delos Purchase, passed
away unexpectedly early Sunday morning. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs
Russell (Shirley) Ellsworth, with whom she made her home; one son, Samuel
Purchase of Grand Rapids; one brother, John Conger of Toledo, Ohio; nine
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs Purchase reposes at the
VanStrien-Alman Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday
afternoon, Rev Paul Markham officiating. Interment Fairplains Cemetery.

Delos Purchase, 64, passed away at his home Tuesday evening, after a long illness. He had been in the dairy business and delivered milk in the North End and west parts of the city for many years. He was well known, having lived at North Park for about 12 years. Mr. Purchase retired from the dairy business about two years ago because of poor health and has failed gradually since then. He leaves the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Ellsworth; one son, Samuel and three grandchildren of Grand Rapids and a brother, Edwin Purchase of Muskegon Heights. Funeral services will be held at the residence, 3271 Coit Road, this (Friday) afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Fair Plains cemetery.
Their son Samuel J married Agnes Elder Tillitson, the daughter of George Walter Tillitson & Margaret Dron Dickinson & they had 6 children - Margaret, Franklin, Clara, Robert, Richard & Shirley
Their daughter Shirley Louise married Russell Baily Ellsworth, the son of Judson G Ellsworth & Helen W Bailey - they had 4 children - Milo, J Grant, Della & Oma.

ELLSWORTH - Mrs Shirley L Ellsworth, aged 85 of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, August 9, 1986, at the Alpine Manor. Mrs Ellsworth was born in Grand Rapids on August 12, 1900. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell B Ellsworth on December 11, 1985. She is survived by her children, Grand and Barbara Ellsworth, Della and Ronald Murphy, Oma and Leonard Werner all of Grand Rapids; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Mrs Agnes Purchase of Grand Rapids, Mrs Ruby Hyrns of Howard City, Mrs Margaret Maitre of Grand Rapids, and Mrs Clarabelle Mullin of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews. Mrs Ellsworth taught in the Grand Rapids Public School system for about 25 years and was a member of the North Park Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday at the Funeral Chapel with the Rev Dennis D Ladd officiating. Interment in Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet her family at the chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Monday. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the North Park Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to the Michigan Heart Association. Mr Ellsworth had worked 40 yrs for the C D Campbell Lumber Co, of Comstock Park, and was a member of the North Park Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held at the funeral chapel 11 am Saturday with his pastor, Rev Dennis D Ladd officiating. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet his family at the chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 0 pm Friday.
