The death occurred in Waltham (Mass.), hospital of John S. Mason, West Side, New Glasgow, at nine o'clock on Sunday night. He had been in ill health for some time and went to Boston for treatment. On Friday he underwent an operation and it was not thought to be of a serious nature and he seemed to be getting along well when he took a hemorrhage in the brain and never regained consciousness. The remains are being brought back to Pictou County and interment will take place at Murray Point Cemetery, Merigomish. The late John S. Mason was 61 years of age and was well and favourably known in New Glasgow and at the Ponds, where he formerly lived. He is survived by his wife who was in Boston with her husband at the time of his death, and three sons and four daughters. The former are George W., New Glasgow; Charles E., and Jack, who live in Belmont, Mass. The daughters are Mrs. Roy Christison, Pictou Landing; Mrs. Fred Morris, Watertown, Mass.; and Misses Anne and Bernice of Belmont, Mass. The remains will be accompanied home by Miss Anne and Mr. Jack Mason. The sudden death of John S. Mason, will come as a distinct shock to his friends and relatives of Pictou County. It was only a few months ago that he went to Boston in apparently his usual good health. To the sorrowing members of the family is extended every sympathy

Mrs Margaret Jane Mason
On Friday afternoon the funeral service of the late Mrs. Margaret Jane Mason was held in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Merigomish, and was very largely attended; the church being filled. On Monday morning, the 14th, Mrs Mason arose as on other days and passed away very suddenly a few minutes later. For a number of years Mrs Mason lived with her daughter Mrs (Dr) Joseph Brusche of Cambridge, Mass, where she went after the passing of her husband Mr John Stevens Mason in 1923. Mrs Mason was born at Lower Barney's River being the daughter of Captain and Mrs Charles Arbuckle. Mr and Mrs Mason lived in New Glasgow for about 20 years. While there they were members of First Presbyterian Church. Mrs Mason was the possessor of a genial disposition and a winsome personality. Kindness and cheerfulness ever characteristics of her life-always seeking the welfare of others she thus possessed that much coveted gift of making many friends wherever she went and other lives were made happier as she came in contact with them. She leaves to mourn four daughters, Mrs (Dr) Joseph Brusche (nee Annie Mason) of Cambridge, Mass where she passed away; Mrs Roy Christenson (Mary) of Pictou Landing; Mrs Fred Morris (Charlotte), Watertown, and Miss Bernice, Cambridge; also two sons, George, Lower Barney's River and John of Los Angeles, California; two brothers, George and John Arbuckle; two sisters, Mrs Charles McGee, Eureka and Mrs Charles Mason. Two brothers William and Robert predeceased her. The choir of the church led the singing in beloved selections of the deceased. The service was conducted by Rev F G MacDonald, who paid a worthy tribute to the life of the departed. The large number present and the profusion of flowers were testimony to her popularity. Mrs Lewis of Trenton sang most feelingly, "Sleep On Beloved, Sleep!" The pall bearers were all nephews of the deceased, George W Mason, James Mason, Henry Mason, Lawrence Arbuckle, Charles Mason and Wesley Arbuckle. Interment was at Murray Point Cemetery.
