One of my goals this
year is to post as many of the obits, tombstones and stories I have collected,
no matter how small, because, it is nice to be remembered and oftentimes, these old obits are lost and forgotten.
Hamilton Jobb married
into the Vincent clan via Rachel Belle Whidden, the daughter of Samuel Whidden
& Sophia Vincent. They had 10

HAMILTON JOBB
A good citizen of Londonderry, and one of the oldest residents of that place has passed away. He has been in failing health for about a year and a half. He is survived by his widow, four sons and four daughters. The sons are Rev. F.L. Jobb, of New Mills, NB, Chas L Jobb, Montreal, Gordon of Lofield, Alberta and Edward Blake, who is with regiment in England. The daughters are Mrs. Robert Jackson, of Somerville, Mass, Mrs. Frederick Langille of Truro, Mrs. Philip Vincent, New Annan and Miss Bertha at home. Funeral very largely attended by friends and relatives was at one o'clock Saturday afternoon, the 28th inst. Interment was at Great Village Cemetery. Rev. Mr. Gillespie of Great Village conducted the funeral services at the home and also at the grave. Mr. Jobb was born at Wallace Harbor 81 years ago, and went to Londonderry when very young and has lived there until his death, respected and esteemed by all his fellow citizens.

‘Bertha’ Jobb
BERTHA M. Jobb - New Annan - The death of Miss Bertha M. Jobb,
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Jobb, occurred at the McCabe Rest
Home, Great Village, in the early morning hours of January 1. Miss Jobb was in
her 87th year and had been a patient at the McCabe Rest Home for ten days,
suffering from an attack of gall bladder trouble and passed away quietly in her
sleep. She was born in the Londonderry district and spent the greater part of
her life there except for twenty years spent in Mass., U.S.A. She is survived
by three sisters: Mrs. Robt. P. Jackson, Somerville, Mass; Mrs. Fred Langille,
Truro; Mrs. Philip A. Vincent, West New Annan; also several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held in the Community Church, Londonderry Station,
January 3 at one o'clock with Rev. William POPE, United Church Minister of
Great Village officiating. Miss Jobb was a member of the United Church, Great
Village. There were a great many beautiful floral tributes from relatives and
friends. The burial took place in the family plot, Mahon Cemetery, Great
Village.
Their
daughter Irene Jobb married back into the Vincent family. She married Philip Ainsley Vincent, the son
of George Philip Vincent & Martha Foster Swan.

Mrs Philip A Vincent, died Thursday at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born in Londonderry, she was a daughter of the late Hamilton and Rachel (Whidden) Jobb. She was the former Irene Jobb. She was the last surviving member of her family, a life member of the New Annan United Church Women, and a member of the West New Annan United Church, where for several years she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She is survived by a son, Orrin, West New Annan; a daughter, Ruth, West New Annan; three granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip. The body is at Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Funeral service will be today at 2 p.m. from the West New Annan United Church, Rev. Morley Bentley officiating. Burial will be in the Bell Gift Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West New Annan United Church, Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital or any charity.

Hamilton &
Rachel were buried at the Mahon Cemetery at the Great Village, Colchester Co,
Nova Scotia.
