The Arbuckles established The Ponds, NS. The first to Nova Scotia was Charles Arbuckle (abt 1751) who hailed from Scotland and he married a Polly McGee/MaGee.
Polly was the first white child born in the Pictou area and it is said that she was raised by Native Indians after her father and brother drowned; her mother had already passed away. Barney's River, NS is named after her father Barnabas MaGee/McGee.
The Arbuckles also settled on PEI including a pair of brothers, John & Charles who created "Arbuckles Coffee", the first one-pound bag of roasted coffee for sale after the Civil War in North America; before this, coffee was sold green and had to be roasted at home. It caught on and their Ariosa blend is still known as the 'Original Cowboy Coffee". The company was broken up around 1930 but they continued to produce their "Yuban" blend. The company is now ran out of Arizona.
